- 1/3 cup vegetable oil (60ml)
- 1 cup warm milk (200ml)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 5 cups flour (600 grams)
- 100 grams butter, divided into 8 pieces
Equipment Needed:
- Mixing bowl
- Spoon
- Cast iron skillet (or any other skillet)
- Toothpick
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Prepare Yeast Mixture:
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, sugar, and vegetable oil.
- Stir all the ingredients together.
- Cover the bowl and let the yeast mixture sit for 10 minutes.
- Prepare Milk Mixture:
- Take warm milk and add salt to it.
- Stir to combine.
- Once the yeast mixture is ready, pour it into the milk mixture and stir well.
- Prepare Dough:
- Sift the flour into the milk and yeast mixture.
- Stir the dough with a spoon until it starts to come together.
- If the dough sticks to your hands, gradually add a little more flour until it reaches a soft texture.
- Let the Dough Rise:
- Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it stand for at least 45 minutes, allowing it to rise.
- Divide and Assemble:
- After 45 minutes, the dough will have risen significantly.
- Sprinkle the countertop with flour to prevent sticking.
- Transfer the dough onto the floured surface and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Take each piece and shape it into a ball.
- Divide the softened butter into 8 pieces.
- Place one piece of butter on top of each dough ball.
- Assembly:
- Using your hands, gently work with the dough.
- Stack two balls of dough (each containing a piece of butter) on top of each other.
- Place a third ball of dough (without butter) on top of the stack.
- Press the balls together to form a single ball, ensuring the butter is enclosed within the layers.
- Repeat this process with the remaining dough balls.
- Cooking:
- Preheat a cast iron skillet (or any other skillet) over medium heat.
- Place the assembled dough balls onto the skillet.
- Cook each side for approximately three minutes, or until golden brown.
- To ensure the bread is cooked through, use a toothpick to release any trapped air and check for doneness.
- Be careful not to burn the bread; adjust the heat if necessary.
- Serve:
- Once both sides of the bread are cooked to perfection, remove them from the skillet.
- Serve warm with butter for a delicious breakfast treat.
Enjoy your super butter breakfast bread!
