Ingredients:
– Eggs (as many as you need)
– Water
– White vinegar or lemon juice (optional, helps the eggs hold their shape)
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Optional toppings: avocado, tomato, spinach, smoked salmon, whole grain toast, etc.

Instructions:

1. Bring a pot of water to a gentle simmer over medium heat. You want the water to be hot but not boiling vigorously.

2. Add a splash of white vinegar or lemon juice to the water. This helps the egg whites coagulate faster, resulting in a neater poached egg.

3. Crack one egg into a small bowl or ramekin. This makes it easier to slide the egg into the water gently.

4. Using a spoon, create a gentle whirlpool in the simmering water. This helps the egg whites wrap around the yolk.

5. Carefully slide the egg into the center of the whirlpool. Let it cook for about 3-4 minutes for a soft yolk or longer if you prefer it firmer.

6. While the egg is cooking, prepare any desired toppings or accompaniments.

7. Once the egg is cooked to your liking, carefully remove it from the water using a slotted spoon. Gently blot the excess water with a paper towel.

8. Season the poached egg with salt and pepper to taste.

9. Serve the poached egg immediately, either on its own or atop toast or any other desired base, with your chosen toppings.

10. Repeat the process with the remaining eggs.

Enjoy your healthy poached eggs!
