Ingredients:
– 3 cups all-purpose flour
– ³/⁴ cup milk or water
– 3¹/² tbsp unsalted butter (softened)
– 1 egg
– ³/⁴ tsp salt
– 1 tbsp active dried yeast
– ¹/⁴ cup sugar

#### Procedure:

**Step 1 – Mixing the Dough:**
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine milk (or water), sugar, salt, yeast, and egg. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
2. Add softened unsalted butter to the mixture and continue to mix until a shaggy mass of dough forms.
3. Transfer the dough onto a clean work surface and knead it with your hands for approximately 6 minutes until it becomes soft and smooth. Add a little water if necessary to achieve the desired consistency.
4. Once kneaded, cover the dough in a bowl and let it rest for 15 minutes to allow it to rise slightly.

**Step 2 – Shaping the Doughnuts:**
1. After resting, divide the dough into 12 equal pieces.
2. Take each portion of dough, gently degas it by pressing out excess air, then tuck in the edges towards the center and roll it into small round balls.
3. Place the dough balls in a bowl, cover, and let them rest for another 15 minutes.

**Step 3 – Forming and Frying the Doughnuts:**
1. After the second rest, press down gently on top of each dough ball to flatten it slightly.
2. Using your thumb, press into the middle of the dough ball to form a small hole, then widen the hole using your fingers to shape it into a doughnut.
3. Place the formed doughnuts on a parchment-lined baking tray and let them rest once again for a few minutes.
4. Heat enough vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot for deep frying the doughnuts until they turn golden brown.
5. Carefully place the doughnuts into the hot oil, frying them in batches if necessary, and fry until they are evenly golden brown on both sides.
6. Once fried, remove the doughnuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain off excess oil.
7. Serve the fluffy doughnuts warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar.

Enjoy your freshly made fluffy doughnuts!
